Forward Motion Compensation

Home

Forward Motion leads to a considerable reduction in the resolving power of the image, especially during adverse conditions (low flying height, high-speed flying, long exposure time). FMC is integrated in the drive unit and is started by setting the FMC switch to "ON". On account of the forward motion of the aircraft, the area terrain projected on the image plane moves in the flight direction during the exposure time. A movement of the pressure plate ( a function of V/H and the camera constant of the lens in question) takes place in the flight direction.
 
Below is an example of FMC, a photgraph was taken then 15 X enlargements were made of the wihite outlined portion to show you the advantage with and without Foward Motion Compensation.
